Even though we live in Southern California – swimming all year round can be a challenge.
And because almost everyone has a pool or a community pool – making sure my kids retain their swimming skills during the winter is so important to me. I want them to be strong swimmers all year long. But it’s easier said than done.
Finding pool time during the school year is a lot harder than it seems. It does actually get cold here – cold enough that you definitely don’t want to be in the pool. And sometimes it rains, and when it does it can rain for days on end making swimming outside impossible. Of course, during the school year, the days are shorter which means even less time to get into the pool. And most pools are outdoors, which leaves me wondering how I can keep my children swimming all year long?

There are so many reasons why swimming all year long is important – but these are just a few!

- Maintains consistency by having the same teacher and class schedule

We all know that as soon as it gets nice out we will be invited to 200 pool parties. There will be birthdays and barbeques and everything in between. And my goal is to make sure that my children are confident swimmers. I don’t want to wait until summer starts to get them back into a pool. Six months of no swimming isn’t going to cut it.
