Resources + Organizations

There are so many resources and organizations in Orange County that cater to specialized care.

Joshin – Joshin is family-centered disability care for all ages and needs. The Joshin app connects families to screened and experienced caregivers in their area.

REACH – Communication therapy and resource center

Quality Start OC – Children come with many types of health and developmental needs. All early care and education centers are expected to make every effort to accommodate children with special needs.

Regional Center of Orange County –  A nonprofit organization to help coordinate lifelong services and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

American Advocacy Group – The mission of American Advocacy Group is to assist you with first-class, affordable advocacy services that benefit individuals diagnosed with developmental and physical disabilities and their families.

Family Support Network -Family Support Network offers a wide range of programs to provide resources for families of children with special needs or “at risk.”

Empower Advocacy – Empower Advocacy strives to equip families of children with special needs with the information and tools needed to effectively navigate the special education system.

HBIC – Help for Brain Injured Children – HBIC has provided support to countless individuals with disabilities and their families throughout the Southern California region.

Help Me Grow – Help Me Grow is available to all parents in Orange County who are interested in connecting with resources to enhance their child’s development.

Schools

Orange Pre-K – Orange Pre-K provides services for infant and preschool-aged students with mild to moderate and moderate to severe disabilities.

Olive Crest Academy – We embrace students who exhibit even the toughest challenges, instilling in them a sense of belonging while giving them the opportunity to shine.

Mardan School – Our mission is to support children whose emotional, social, behavioral, and/or learning difficulties have impacted their ability to succeed in typical school settings.

Beacon Day School – Beacon believes in the success of every student, both at school and beyond our campus. Every program we implement, every evidence-based therapeutic intervention we offer is designed to meet the unique needs of each student we serve.

Port View Preparatory – At Port View Preparatory®, our mission is to serve children and young adults with special needs.

New Vista School – New Vista School serves the educational and social needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as those with similar learning differences.

Santa Ana Special Education – The Santa Ana Unified School District’s Special Education Department is committed to the educational success of students who have disabilities.

Armenta Learning Academy – Our course curriculums are tailored to assist students with Special Needs and disabilities. Our staff is trained to effectively work with individuals with Autism, Aspergers, A.D.H.D, A.D.D, and other learning disabilities.

Mental Health Therapies

Stepping Forward Counseling Center – We provide a safe space for children and young adults who are struggling with neuro-biological disorders, emotional issues, or mental illnesses, such as Bipolar Disorder, Conduct Disorder, ADHD/ADD, OCD, Anxiety, Depression, etc. SFCC offers highly effective mental health services, programs, and summer camps.

Cottonwood Psychology Center – Cottonwood Psychology Center is proud to offer in-office & online cognitive-behavioral and strengths-based therapy.

Melissa Fisher Goldman Therapy – Life Transition Therapy, Cognitive & Behavioral Therapies, and Grief Counseling.

SoCal Adolescent Wellness – Providing mental health services for teens who have special needs or disabilities.

Transitional Resources

ABLE Coffee Roasters – Our goal, as a chef-turned-Education Specialist and a Behavior Therapist-turned-business owner, is to create paying jobs for individuals with disabilities.

OC Access Service –  is a shared-ride service that is available to qualified applicants whose physical or cognitive limitations prevent them from utilizing the regular OC Bus fixed-route service.

The Lighthouse Group – The Lighthouse Group is dedicated to providing a place for social community and growth through serving the adult special needs population.

Dayle McIntosh Center – The Dayle McIntosh Center for the Disabled, provides services to people with disabilities and facilitates equal access and inclusion within the community.

Oak Canyon Nature Center – Oak Canyon Nature Center is a 58-acre natural park nestled in the Anaheim Hills.  A year-round stream meanders through the park.  Consisting of three adjoining canyons, four miles of hiking trails traverse one of the few remaining areas of oak woodland and coastal sage scrub in our region.

Sherman Library and Gardens – Sherman Library is a historical research library specializing in the history of the Pacific Southwest – including southern California, Arizona, northern Mexico, and adjoining areas. The Library’s collections document the development of the region through books, archival collections, photographs, maps, and newspapers.

Discovery Cube – We make every effort to provide an unforgettable experience to all of our guests, regardless of ability. Below is some information you may find helpful when planning a visit for guests with special needs.

Pretend City Children’s Museum – Pretend City Children’s Museum strives to make access possible for every child and give every family an equal opportunity to learn and play in an immersive educational environment. It is a place where a child’s unique abilities are embraced and encouraged to flourish and play at their own pace. Pretend City offers the benefits of a role-playing experience to support a child’s social-emotional development.

Special Camp – This is a once-in-a-lifetime summer camp experience for young adults and children with disabilities between the ages of 6 and 21. With our one-to-one ratio, we can establish personal relationships between our campers and counselors and welcome a wider range of abilities.

Centennial Farms – Visit baby chicks, pigs, goats, sheep, hens, roosters, rabbits, cows, and peacocks, peruse the fruit and vegetable gardens. Learn about accessibility here.

ACES Autism Therapy – ACES is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals and families impacted with autism or other special needs.
