What's on the menu

Well, we’ve made it through the first week of the holidays and now it’s onto the New Year celebrations!

And of course, they’re going to look different, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun with food!

Sunday – Sloppy Joe Casserole

It’s going to be chilly this week and for whatever reason I was craving a casserole – I’m a midwesterner at heart and casseroles are my JAM so this sloppy Joe Casserole recipe seemed like the perfect fit!

Monday – Homemade Pizza

Yes, we do this every week.  And no it most likely won’t change. Here’s the dough we use from the Pioneer Woman. I use whatever tomato sauce we happen to have lying around, BUT if I’m being super gourmet I will buy the pizza sauce from Trader Joe’s AND their Pizza seasoned shredded cheese.

Tuesday – Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Since it is going to rain and also it’s the week between Christmas and New Years’ comfort is where it’s at!  I love Chicken and wild rice soup and this recipe is sure to please and also make enough for leftovers!  I also will make whole wheat buns to go along with it – you can buy them or try your hand at this recipe!

Wednesday – Peanut Sauce Noodles

My kids love noodles and I LOVE peanut noodles – sorry for those who have allergies!  This is super quick and easy and also delicious!

Thursday – New Year’s Eve

I love a good charcuterie spread and so for this year, we are doing all sorts of snacks! I plan to do my favorite type of chips with dip, garlic cashews from Trader Joe’s, cheese, crackers, fruit, and of course all the holiday treats that we have leftover.

Easy and also super satisfying!  And of course, I’ll be in bed by 9!

Friday – New Year’s Day

Usually, we head to a family gathering on New Year’s Day so I don’t actually ever make food traditionally – but this year is different so why not make it fun?!

So this year we are going to do our favorites! I made a little tasting menu from our favorite foods.

My son loves steak so we are going to do flank steak strips, my other son loves steak and crescent rolls so we will have crescent rolls on the side.  My husband loves everything as long as he doesn’t have to cook it so I’ll be making a side that he loves which is spinach salad.  And I love dessert so for dessert we are going to have brownies.

Saturday – Leftovers

Yep leftovers because I’m sure there will be plenty and also it’s technically the last day of “break” so let’s just enjoy this moment and hope that 2021 brings more delicious food and also the ability to see our families!!
