I’m from Iowa. Moving to California was part of my big adventure as a newly graduated college kid. I experienced a lot of social changes after moving to the Golden State. However, nothing quite prepared me for moving to Orange County. Can you relate to any of these?

You aren’t sure what to make of UGGs. I mean I understand warm boots, I’m from Iowa. However, WHY do we need such warm boots in southern California? Not only that, these so called boots are made of suede, which basically stains when wet. So – they aren’t helpful in the SNOW! Also for all of the vanity going on in the OC, don’t these people know how UGLY these shoes are?

Bedazzling. I like sparkly things as much as the next person. But obviously not as much as those born and raised in the OC.

You’ve never seen people more afraid of rain than here in the OC. Like rain stops the world. As in, if it rains you will never get to work. Ever.

Speaking of cars – everyone has a massive one! I mean I grew up when having a minivan was a basic necessity, but that’s because most people had at least four children. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, but if you live in the OC and you have at least one child, or even a cat – then you MUST have a 7 passenger vehicle. It’s the LAW.

Flip flops – every.single.day. I mean is there a need to wear any other type of shoes?? (BESIDES UGGS??)

After moving here I was completely confused as to why everyone says “the 405” or “the 101” Isn’t it just 405? Apparently not.

You don’t understand this In-n-Out Burger. Also there are only like 5 menu items. Who does that? However, this is an OC obsession that I fully support. I’ve had a million gulps of the In-n-Out Kool-Aid and I’m NEVER going back!

And finally – you’ve never been to a land where people don’t know what a cheese ball is. A CHEESE BALL! Basically deep fried cheese. Who doesn’t love that? Who has never heard of such amazingness? OC people – that’s who.

OH my goodness too Funny. I dont live in the OC, but I can relate. I love my Uggs ( you spray them to protect the suede but its an upkeep and what mom has time for that?). In Iowa they were realistic to have. Now In New Mexico, I wear them just for the fun of it…its really not necessary. Tenny shoes will do just fine. In-n-Out burger; haven’t tried yet, but I hear I better. AND the WEATHER here….YES it stops Traffic. Really???… They are cray cray drivers when the sun comes out, cutting people off, speed like they are in a “high speed chase”…but oh man it rains or snows a wee tiny bit and traffic stops.

Oh my goodness, YES!! For me this was my experience moving just moving in the STATE of CA!
If they don’t know what cheese balls are, then they certainly don’t know about ranch dressing dipping sauce!!!!!
