Effortless Dinner Wins for Busy Millennial Moms

(millennial pause)

I learned that from TikTok (if you don’t get it, you’re for sure a millennial and this post is for you).

Okay, mamas. Here we go. We’re juggling work, kids, schedules, sick days, friendships, self-care, the fact that our socks reveal our millennial-ness, and a million-and-one other things.

IT. IS. OVERWHELMING.

And coming up with a dinner plan is just the icing on the cake. So I’m here to hold your hand and tell you it’s gonna be okay. I’ve got a list of options that might make planning dinner easier AND you can just go ahead and start assigning cooking nights to other people in your house. Including your older kids. Let’s go, baby. We’ve got this.

  1. Sheet Pan Wonders: Let’s kick things off with the magic of sheet pan dinners. Throw your favorite protein (chicken, fish, tofu, etc.), some colorful veggies, and a drizzle of olive oil on a pan. Season with your go-to spices, pop it in the oven, and voila! Minimal prep, minimal cleanup, and a tasty, nutritious dinner for the whole family.
  2. One-Pot Marvels: Who wants to deal with a sink full of dishes after a long day? No sir. Not us. Enter the one-pot wonders. Go for a hearty pasta, a flavorful stir-fry, or a comforting soup, and just throw everything into one pot, let it simmer, and enjoy a badass meal without the hassle of multiple pans. Plus, fewer dishes mean more time for Netflix or catching up on your favorite book (or scrolling TikTok to learn what a millenial pause is).
  3. Instant Pot Delights: If you haven’t jumped on the Instant Pot bandwagon yet, it’s tiiiiiime, honey. This kitchen gadget is a game-changer and can deliver up some epic chili, risotto, or any variety of dishes in a fraction of the time it would take using traditional methods. It’s like having a personal chef without the hefty price tag.
  4. Taco Tuesday – Any Day: Who says Taco Tuesday is reserved for just one day a week? We make the rules around here. Tacos are quick and customizable – and who doesn’t love them?? Really, who? Show them to me. Set up a taco bar with various toppings and let the family assemble their own masterpieces. It’s a fun and interactive way to enjoy dinner together, and you can use up leftovers creatively.
  5. Make-Ahead Madness: Let’s talk about the genius beauty of meal prepping. Spend a little time on the weekend chopping veggies, marinating proteins, and prepping grains. Store them in containers in the fridge, and you’ve got the foundation for quick and easy dinners throughout the week. Whether it’s a stir-fry, grain bowl, or salad, having prepped ingredients at your fingertips is a game-changer. Try this viral dense bean salad and tell me it doesn’t change your life.
  6. Freezer-Friendly Feasts: Honey, turn to your freezer. She’s got you. Prepare any darn thing you want to and then freeze batches like the domestic goddess you are. Easiest with your favorite casseroles, soups, or stews. When dinnertime rolls around, cackle with delight, defrost and heat. It’s like a homemade TV dinner, but way better!

It’s time to join the revolution of millennial parents who are done with biting off more than they can chew (see what I did there?). Throw on your too-short socks, pick a method, and make dinner easier for once.
