June 2019Schoooooool’s out. For. Summer! Somehow, I blinked and the entire school year flew by. And now it’s June 2019 (!), which means saying goodbye to teacher, and saying hello to long summer days and nights of fun! If you haven’t yet, definitely check out our Guide to Orange County’s Best Summer Camps. It is filled with a variety of camps that your kids will love. 

Here are some other ways to fill your summer days in Orange County this June 2019!

 

Anaheim Packing House 100 Year Summer Citrus Celebration – Anaheim

June 1

From their website: “Join us in celebrating the 100th year of the historic Anaheim Packing House with a full day of entertainment, activities, giveaways, historical tours, citrus-infused food and more!” If you haven’t been to this super cool spot, this is a great way to experience it. The Packing House is kid-friendly, animal-friendly, and all about supporting local small businesses!

Free to attend and enjoy the tours, classes, and entertainment. Bring money for restaurant food. 

 

Dino Days By Kids Imagine Nation – Lake Forest

June 1+2

From their website: “Experience the Nature Park as it transforms into adventurous “Dino Days”! There will be fun for the entire family with a walking DINO tour of a life size moving T-Rex, Velociraptors, and a Dilophosaurus. …Wristbands include dinosaur tour, arts & crafts, face painting, balloon artist and unlimited games. Ages 2 years old and over require a wristband to participate in dino tour and activities. Music and entertainment are free! There will be food for a nominal fee.”

$5 per wristband for entry. Must be purchased in advance and in person. This event generally sells out and day-of tickets are usually not sold.

Orange County History Roundup – Santa Ana

June 8

Clay Kellogg House. Orange County History Talks. Storyteller Corners (hear about OC history in their own words). Live music, presented by Lilies of the West string band. Open House at the OCHS Archives. Artist on the Go, silhouette artist Leslie Stone. Nature Tours by Orange County naturalists. Food Trucks. Fruit and vegetables from the Museum’s Farm.”

Open and FREE to the public. Free parking.

 

OC Parks Sunset Summer Cinema

June 14 and every Friday night during the summer until September 13

From their website: “Grab a beach chair and some popcorn, because OC Parks is bringing the big screens back to your favorite regional parks again this summer. Enjoy 14 movies at seven different parks, Friday nights from June 14 through Sept. 13.” The series kicks off in June 2019 with the ZOOTOPIA (2016, rated PG) and includes other family crowd pleasers like INCREDIBLES 2, THE PRINCESS BRIDE, and LILO & STITCH. 

Free Admission and free parking starting at 6:00pm (screening starts at 8:00pm). Food trucks will be serving at each location and a beer and wine garden will be available at some locations to those 21 and over for an additional charge. 

 

2019 Auto Enthusiast Day Presented By Nitto Tires – Anaheim

June 15

If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate dad on Father’s Day weekend, this car fan event at Angel Stadium is a solid bet! From their website: “The show is free for all spectators and will include a variety of activities, such as drifting and off-road demonstrations, a vendor midway featuring automotive products and giveaways, food trucks and much more.” 

Free entry, but you must register to attend in advance. 

 

Dream Big Family Art Day – Costa Mesa

June 15

From their website: “Dream Big Family Art Day is a free event chock-full of family friendly fun. Start at The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity with our Saturday Morning Cartoons & Drawing from 10am to Noon. Kids can learn to draw and color Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner while watching the antics of these beloved characters in classic cartoons. Then join Christa Mae for Storytime at Cilek Kids’ Room from 12:30 to 1:30! This parent-child experience is perfect for toddlers 15 months to four years old and features a read-aloud story about dreaming and a live sing-along performance, followed by an art project related to the story. Goodie bags provided for all! Next, head over to The SOCO Farmers’ Market to enjoy a wonderful selection of refreshments offered by the Farmers’ Market food & drink vendors from 1:30 to 2pm. The last stop is back to The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, where our nurturing teaching artists will lead kids and parents in creating paintings that express their wildest dreams from 2 to 3pm.”

OC Parks Summer Concert Series

June 20 and every Thursday during the summer until August 29

From their website: “Once again OC Parks brings live music to Orange County’s regional parks. Enjoy 10 concerts at five different parks, Thursday nights from June 20 through Aug. 29. Headliners include Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, The English Beat, Lit and more.” Other notable performances include the fab Beatles cover band Hard Day’s Night (June 20) and The White Buffalo featuring Matt Baxter United (August 1). Should be a fun time! 

Admission and parking are free. Open to the public of all ages. Concertgoers 21 and over can purchase beer and wine at the beer tent. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for guests to enjoy the beer garden, food trucks, and to save their spot on the grass for the concert. All concerts are from 6 to 8 p.m.

 

STAR WARS Day At The OC Zoo – Orange

June 22

From their press release: “Whether you’re a member of the Rebel Alliance or the First Order, there’s something for everyone! Guests will enjoy a day filled with Star Wars fun, kids’ crafts, games and photo opportunities. Zoo animals will join the fun with meet and greets throughout the day and enjoy special treats. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to come dressed in Star Wars costumes and attire, and the first 100 children (ages 12 & under) wearing a Star Wars costume will receive a special gift and free train ticket to ride the Irvine Park Railroad.”

Activities are free with the purchase of a paid zoo ticket of $2 per person (ages 2 and under are free). Please note that zoo coupons/passes are not valid for this event. Reservations for Star Wars Day are not required, and parking is $5 per vehicle.

Water Lantern Festival – Aliso Viejo

June 23

From their website: “Water Lantern Festival is filled with fun, happiness, hope, and great memories that you’ll cherish for a lifetime. This is a family friendly event that can be shared by everyone. Friends, families, neighbors, and lots of people that you haven’t met can come together to create a peaceful, memorable experience.” On an eco-friendly note, all lanterns are made from wood and rice paper. 

Adult tickets start at $30 and include entry, floating lantern, commemorative drawstring bag, marker, and wristband. Price also includes the disposal of all water lanterns from the lake and trash clean up. 

 

Make-A-Wish Community Yard Sale – Irvine 

June 29

From their website: “Come shop at the Make-A-Wish Community Yard Sale hosted by our Wish Granters! The sale will be held on the patio at our Irvine Wish House on Saturday, June 29. All proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish.” This is a great way to find gently-used toys, clothes, and other items while supporting a terrific children’s charity. You can also donate your own items for the sale if you’d like to support that way.

Free to attend. All proceeds go towards Make-A-Wish.
