I Drank 1 Gallon Of Water Every Day For 30 Days – Here’s What Happened

gallon of water

That’s right, I drank 1 gallon of water every day for 30 days.  And yes, I did have to pee.  All. The. Time.

Why did I want to drink a gallon of water every day?

Basically, I wanted to give myself a daily goal for the month. I also wanted to see how it would change my skin, my appetite, my sleeping, and my restless legs.

To give a little context – I was not good at drinking water.  I was like REALLY bad at it.  I generally would drink my 2-3 cups of coffee in the morning.  Have sparkling water for lunch – no more than 12oz – and then maybe have 8oz of water for dinner.  That’s about it.

The First Few Days -128 Ounces

I have a Regular Girl water bottle that holds 40oz of water and I know because I used a measuring cup to make sure I didn’t miss an ounce.  I drank 3 full bottles plus an additional 8 ounces.

The first few days, I skipped my morning coffee because I didn’t want to run out of time to drink my water.  My goal was to finish by dinnertime.  I didn’t want to be waking up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom – been there and done that – thank you, pregnancy.

I managed to get through the first 2 40oz relatively easily.  It was the last 48oz that took effort.

What I Began To Notice

Aside from having to go to the bathroom all of the time.  Like seriously, I would go, flush, wash my hands, walk out of the bathroom, only to feel the urge again and actually go a decent amount!  Crazy town.

I began to notice that drinking an entire gallon of water made me feel less bloated.  And despite the fact that I was washing my hands more than ever my skin, without the aid of lotion, retained its moisture. I didn’t use lotion on my skin the entire 30 days!

I was THIRSTY.

WHAT?!  Yes, if I happened to finish my entire gallon of water well before dinnertime, I noticed that around 8 pm I would get really thirsty.  I would also wake up really thirsty!  So some days I was definitely consuming more than a gallon of water.

I also added in my morning coffee and still managed to drink it all down.

The End Results

Shockingly, drinking a gallon of water was pretty easy.  Will I keep doing it?  No.  Like I said, I had to go to the bathroom ALL THE TIME.

Will I keep drinking more water? Absolutely! I will probably stick to 80 ounces.  Stretching out the 80 ounces during the day will be pretty easy, and I won’t have to go to the bathroom ALL OF THE TIME!

My skin is clearer and softer, my restless legs have decreased.

So, if you’re considering trying to drink more water – DO IT!  If you are considering drinking 1 gallon of water a day, do it!
