I did Keto for 30 days, I love myself a good thirty-day challenge. Especially when it comes to self-control, I’m highly competitive that way!
So, after doing a little research, I decided to give the Keto diet a try!
The first few days
A lot of people talk about having the Keto flu. Your body is craving sugar and carbs and so as you get into ketosis there can be flu-like symptoms that accompany this transition. I felt a bit of a headache on the first day or two without sugar, but other than that I felt fine.
I think each person is different in how they are going to react.
Weight loss
Everyone talks about how quickly you lose weight on Keto and I have to say that the first week I lost four pounds and the second week I lost another three. The weight really did come off quickly.
Cravings
The first couple of weeks on Keto I didn’t struggle with cravings. All of my eating options were fresh and new. However, after two weeks I really started to crave carbs. I LOVE carbs – they’re just so yummy! Especially pizza. And my family has Friday night Pizza night every Friday!
Thankfully, I was able to find some recipes to help ease those cravings.
I also found a few local shops and Instagram inspiration to help as I kept going on my keto journey.
Will you continue on Keto?
That is literally the biggest question people ask – are you able to continue on keto – because it can be very difficult to maintain. It is hard to find things to eat at restaurants – hello added sugar in everything – and it also has to be top of mind at all times so that you don’t fall out of ketosis.
I did end up losing 10 pounds in total – which was pretty amazing! So that was a big win for me!
And my answer is I am not sure. On the one hand, I really have loved how I feel without sugar. But on the other hand, I love bread. Like, bread and I have had a life-long love affair that most likely will never end.
So, I think, for me, Keto will be something that I do as a reset.
Have you tried the Keto diet? What was your experience?
