Hilary's Top 3 Favorite Posts of 2018Well, 2018 is coming to a close, so I’m sitting here at 7 Leaves Cafe, my favorite boba tea shop in Orange County, reflecting on my past year with Orange County Moms Blog. Choosing “Hilary’s top 3 favorite posts of 2018” is not as simple as it sounds.

First of all, I’ve been a contributing writer to this site for 3 years, and have written 29 posts in 2018 alone. On top of that, as the Managing Editor, I’ve reviewed and edited over 100 additional posts from our talented Contributors and Guest Bloggers in 2018. My head is spinning just thinking about how many posts I’ve looked at for Orange County Moms Blog!

That said, from the 29 posts I’ve written this past year, I managed to select 3 that I think are the most interesting and indicative of my writing here. While I didn’t use just page views alone as my criteria in selecting my top 3, they’ve all received a higher than average number of page views so are guaranteed worthy reads.

Without further ado, here are Hilary’s Top 3 Favorite Posts of 2018!

#1: One of my most popular posts of 2018 is this one about How To Avoid The Dreaded Minnie Mouse Ears Headache.

It’s received almost 3,000 page views, and continues to receive daily views. If you’ve ever worn ears to a Disney park, or even a traditional headband, you know the headache pain I’m talking about here. It’s kind of inevitable when wearing something on your head all day, no matter the location or the headwear. Being a Disneyland Resort Annual Passholder, I’ve had many many visits wearing ears and have distilled my best advice on wearing your ears comfortably into this one post:

#2: Another favorite post from 2018 is this one, Every Mom Deserves A Solo Staycation.

For my Christmas/Hanukkah present last year, my husband surprised me with this amazing solo weekend at the Hyatt Resort in Huntington Beach. This was my first time staying in a hotel room by myself for 2 nights, like ever, and also the longest I’d been by myself since before my first child was born (he was almost 6 at the time I took the trip). It was glorious, and something I think every mom not only deserves but NEEDS, to recharge and reconnect with who we are aside of being mom. Check out my post, discuss it with your significant other, and see if you can get some time to yourself in 2019!

#3: The one that unites my two writing queendoms, Everything You Need To Know About Beautycounter.

In addition to the work I do here for Orange County Moms Blog, I also launched my own personal blog back in April (on Earth Day to be precise) called Eco Friendly Mama. This is a space where I can write in depth about our green family lifestyle, DIY and sustainable alternatives to store-bought plastic goods, eco-friendly products, our eco-conscous travels across the globe, and natural parenting.

Given my green ways, it’s rare that I get a chance to review products that I genuinely love and feel excited about. So this post is near and dear to my heart. Not only did I get a chance to review a slew of awesome beauty products, but I learned all about the eco-friendly aspects of this wonderful business that’s changing the beauty industry. I was so impressed by Beautycounter that I wrote this companion post about their sustainability practices for Eco Friendly Mama. Check out my review of their fabulous and eco-conscious products for Orange County Moms Blog here:

There are so many other posts I’ve written for Orange County Moms Blog in 2018 that I wish I could’ve included in this list.

Like my trip reviews from Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa in Hawaii and the Great Wolf Lodge in Anaheim, plus many other posts about Disney and kid-friendly activities in our area.

And I am particularly proud of this post that takes a hard (tongue-in-cheek) look at the real story within the children’s book No More Monkeys Jumping On The Bed!

You can browse through these and all my other posts on my author page.

Wishing you a very Happy New Year, and hope you’ll continue to tune in for more of my Orange County Moms Blog posts in 2019!
