Homemade Crescent Roll Recipe

Ingredients

1 Cup scalded milk
1/2 Cup shortening
1/2 Cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 pkg. yeast
3 beaten eggs
4 1/2 Cups bread flour

Instructions

Mix milk, shortening, and sugar together, and then let it cool.

In a separate bowl dissolve yeast in a 1/4 cup warm water.

Add half of the flour to the milk and shortening mixture.  Then add the beaten eggs and yeast.  Slowly mix then add the rest of the flour.

Knead the dough.  Cover and let the dough rise until doubled in size about 45 minutes to one hour.

Once doubled in size divide the dough in half.  After that roll out each ball of dough and brush with melted butter.  Then cut into triangles and roll into the shape of a crescent.

Brush the tops of each roll with butter.  Then cover and let rise for about 30 to 45 minutes.

Once the crescent rolls have risen bake at 400 for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Let cool and then enjoy! Enjoying is the best part of the crescent roll, am I right?!

PRO-TiP – you can freeze the rolls before you let them rise the second time and pull them out to defrost/rise overnight if you want to make them up ahead of time.
