Recently, my boys and I made some serious family memories while staying in Catalina at The Hermosa Hotel. We decided that this year’s spring break would include a moms with boys trip AND a YES day.
And just in case you were wondering, the moms also had some yeses along the way!
Since my family and I had already been to Catalina, I wanted to make sure that we explored a little bit more and really experienced all that we could during our short trip. And I must say that Catalina didn’t disappoint.
The first stop we always make when we disembark from the Catalina express is the pirate-themed park. My kids love getting their wiggles out after the hour-long boat ride. And as a parent, it is nice to simply sit and take in the scenery. 
After that, we check in to the Hermosa Hotel. If you love a hotel with character you must stay here. One of the things I appreciate is that there are so many different room options. We had two different room setups and it worked out perfectly.
Both of our rooms had two different areas to sleep and one included a kitchen. I have to be honest, after our YES day, it was nice to come back to the hotel, let the boys hang out in the other room while we relaxed and watched a few true crime shows. Having SPACE while on vacation is SO important!
The Hermosa Hotel also offers complimentary coffee and not just any coffee – Caribou Coffee – if you’ve never had it you must stay to try it!
The Hermosa hotel is also a dog-friendly hotel! So if you just can’t live without you furry family member, then this is the place to stay.
About that YES Day
My kids have been begging to have a YES day since they saw the movie. So my friend and I decided why not give them a YES day while in Catalina, I mean we were mostly going to be doing whatever they wanted, right?! So – we did it all! (you can check it all out on our IG story highlights here!)

- Playing at the Beach
- ICE CREAM
- Playing at both parks (yes there’s another one!)
- Renting a Golf Cart and driving around
- Shopping
- Museum
- Oh, and of course candy from Lloyd’s.
Us moms definitely enjoyed the perks of outdoor dining. We sat and had a Moscow Mule while the kids played in the water.
To be honest our kids begged us to stay another night. They loved all of the nooks and crannies of the hotel.
This time around I made it a point to not only explore more and try new things but also get to know the locals. Almost everyone who works on the island lives on the island. We talked to so many different people and learned a lot about life on the island. Many people grew up going to Catalina with their families and decided that they wanted to make Catalina their permanent residence. I mean, who wouldn’t it’s absolutely stunning!
