Honestly, there is nothing better than a little vacation – and what’s even better is if you can go on that vacation without traveling too far. No need to take off time from work, but you feel like you’ve actually gone away!
That is exactly how I felt when my family and I visited the Hermosa Hotel on Catalina Island.
The Hermosa Hotel is the perfect place to begin your Staycation on Catalina Island.
- The hotel is 1/2 a block from the beach. You don’t need a car or a golf cart when staying at the Hermosa Hotel because you are right in the middle of everything Catalina has to offer!
- Right next to the Catalina Island Museum. This Museum is a must for all families!
- Walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants – including the arcade, my kids’ favorite stops
- Rooms that can fit EVERYONE. The Hermosa Hotel offers rooms to fit every family situation. Whether it’s just your immediate family or a larger group – there’s a room or suite to suit everyone’s needs.
Our family fit perfectly in a Jack and Jill room. My kids had their own room with their own TV – which they loved. And my husband and I had our own room with our own TV AND the best part a door in-between the rooms.
Because the Hermosa Hotel is right in the heart of downtown Avalon we were able to do everything we wanted to do.
We went to the Catalina Island Museum. I have to say we loved this museum. My kids had so much fun going through all of the exhibits with their treasure maps in hand. And my husband and I were able to truly take in every bit of the history of Catalina. From baseball to Hollywood, Catalina has a rich history that is exciting to learn about!
Restaurants and shops are right down the street from the Hermosa Hotel. We had to stop at Lloyd’s of Avalon which is a candy shop filled with all the sweets you could imagine. And of course Scoops – which has the most delicious ice cream and shakes!
There is also a pirate ship park that my kids loved playing in. The pirate ship park sits right on the water and is the perfect place to sit and watch the ocean while drinking a nice cup of coffee – complimentary Caribou coffee if you’re staying at the Hermosa Hotel.
