Four Helpful Apps For Moms That Will Get You Through Life

Apps for moms“There’s an app for that.” The phrase that over time became truer and truer. What a time to be alive! There really is an app for anything. I’ve come across a few apps that have more than filled a need in my life. These apps are separate from the usual favorites that you can’t live without like Amazon, Target, Spotify (any music streaming app), or even your bank app. Those are important too but this goes above that. I’m talking about apps for moms that make parenting and therefore life in general easier.

Here are 4 apps for moms that you will want to download:

1. Moshi Twilight

This one is a favorite in our house! I don’t know how we ever survived bedtime without it. There are 4 categories as well as a playlist option. You can choose from Sleep Stories, Music, Sounds, or Meditate.

Sleep Stories is our go to. You get a story read to you and some nice, calm, sleepy time music. The narrator doesn’t use any exciting vocal inflections so it keeps the vibe nice and chill. The stories are all adventures, but they encourage your child to just lay back and imagine the story.

Music, Sounds, and Meditate are all pretty self-explanatory. The thing that really makes this a standout among apps for moms is the whimsical style they use in all their songs and stories. It’s fun picking out if you want to hear about Luna the Sleepy Sloth or listening to Flight of the Tiddlycopters. Maybe you prefer to be lulled to sleep by The Waves of Lake Neon Soup or led to meditate listening to Topsy Turvy’s Time for Calm.

Best of all, you can use the playlist option and choose a variety of styles to build your own or even use one of their already-made playlists. Whichever you choose, it will sure to help you win that bedtime battle, leaving you more time to catch up on your shows once the kids are asleep.

2. Mint

I’d love to be one of those people that just sits down and pays the bills at one time regardless of their upcoming due dates. I’m not. The Mint app helps me stay on top of my bills, my spending, and my budget all in one place. You can connect all your credit and bank accounts, as well as your bills. Doing this helps when creating your budget. You are able to see all your transactions in one place and see where your money is going each month. When you’re living your best momlife, dates can get away so easily. Having an app to help keep up with your finances leaves you with one less thing to forget.

3. Credit Karma

I think we can all agree that having good credit is one of the most important tools in life. Whether you have always been well-versed in how your FICO score works or you got roped in to getting that first credit card at 18 with no job to pay it back, Credit Karma is for you. First of all, it’s free credit monitoring. So there’s that. Besides staying on top of your Transunion and Equifax credit scores – including your credit report – you can dispute items on your report and get tips on lowering your credit utilization. This app has been a turning point for our family’s quest for financial freedom.

4. Amazon Free Time Unlimited

Kid-friendly and everything in one place. Books, movies, and shows. For a small monthly fee your child has access to all their favorite shows (even the educational ones) and movies (even age appropriate ones from your digital library). Speaking of library, there are hundreds of kids books available to read right there on your electronic device.

But wait, there’s more! Some of the books, movies, and TV shows are available in Spanish!

Since the app is aimed at kids, your child’s profile and access is managed through a password-protected “Parent Dashboard.” Here, you can control content and access, as well as set daily limits. You can see how much time has been spent on the app and what your child is doing with that time.

I love having a stress-free way to distract my kid without worrying they may access things they aren’t supposed to.

Now if only we could get an app for moms to do actual housework for us!
