Birch Aquarium recently launched a blue penguin exhibit where you get to experience the world’s smallest penguins. It is the perfect outing for a fun day with your family! Here is a run down of some of the things you can experience when you visit.
Not all penguins live in snow + ice. In fact, Beyster Family Little Blue Penguins live in the coastal dunes and rocky shores of Southern Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand in a climate similar to San Diego. Birch Aquarium is the only aquarium on the west coast that hosts little blue penguins and they were intentional in creating a facility to care for them!
Access to the penguin exhibit is included in your admission to Birch Aquarium which is $24.95 for adults and $19.95 for children ages 3-17. Annual memberships are also available. Advanced reservations are required for all guests, including members. Visit aquarium.ucsd.edu for more information or to make a reservation.
You can watch them waddle around, swim, and enjoy their new facility. Your kids can get up close and personal to see the adorable little penguins…and even wiggle out some energy in some fun activity areas.
For the days where you can’t get to the aquarium in person, you can still entertain your kids with the penguins through a new live penguin webcam!
