Have You Seen The California Super Bloom of 2019?

super bloomHow has everyone held up with all this rain?

Has there been a bit too much baking, screen time, and crummy attitudes from being inside all the time? I’m going to suggest…go let your kids play in the mud without shoes. Seriously, I do not like having to clean muddy shoes. I would much rather clean my child’s mud-caked feet then have to hose off muddy shoes and then WAIT for them to dry.

I think we might be out of the back-to-back days of rain actually. Spring has started to peak out and give us some beautiful colors to look at after all the drab!

Did you know that you can view the super bloom of wildflowers and other greenery right here in Orange County? Perhaps even closer to your home that you realize.

We’ve recently seen some colorful landscapes and hills during our nature studies in areas that would normally be very dry.

This was Bolsa Chica Wetlands in Huntington Beach at the end of February.

If you go a little further past all the flowers and greenery you’ll get to the gravel paths. You’ll be closer to the water and get a closer look at the various birds and water fowl.

Check out the little nature center they have there. Lots of taxidermy, fish and reptiles.

TIP: There are no bathrooms on the trail. You can use the outhouses next to the nature center.

Bolsa Chica Wetlands has two parking lots you can use. We entered from Warner which is where the nature center is. The other is off Pacific Coast Highway.

The following week we visited Chino Hills State Park to see the super bloom.

We entered on the Chino Hills side off of Soquel, but on the other side right next to Carbon Canyon State Park there’s a Discovery Center that I want to take my kids to next time.

Entrance fee is $5 and it’s cash only so make sure to plan for that.

Our next adventure will be to check out the super bloom in Lake Elsinore. Have you been there yet? I’ve heard it’s crowded. In fact, the city is now requiring that all weekend visitors use their shuttles to see the super bloom. It’s $10 per person though children 3 and under are free. So if you’re hoping to avoid the cost

Let me know what other nature hikes you’ve been on with amazing wildflowers in the comments! I would love to check them out!
