Complete Guide To The Best Patio And Rooftop Dining In Orange County

I live for a good patio or rooftop. With kids, you feel (a little) less embarrassed about your kids running around a restaurant when it’s in an outdoor space. For nights out with friends, it’s great to sit outside, losing track of time. A rooftop bar or restaurant is a beautiful place for a date night. And with Orange County’s COVID numbers on the rise again due to the Delta variant, outdoor dining is the safer bet than indoor seating. I’ve rounded up the best patio and rooftop dining in Orange County, separated by category, for your easy reference!

Breakfast or Brunch

Beachcomber Cafe in Newport Beach is a sweet spot right on the beach. If you go, you must try their beignets.

The Cliff in Laguna Beach is another spot with a great view. They also have live music most days.

Kid-Friendly

Bear Flag Fish Co. has multiple locations, but my kids love to run around and play at the Pacific City location in Huntington Beach. Bear Flag Fish Co. has such a laid-back vibe and great tacos.

Golden Road is a great place to take your children despite being a brewery; we’ve gone just as a family or in big groups with kids, and it’s always fun. We’re closest to the Anaheim location, but if you are heading there, check the Angel’s baseball schedule because it can get packed on game days.

I really cannot narrow down one place in the Anaheim Packing District. I spent so much time there when my oldest was little, letting him run around while I sampled food and drinks from all of the shops. (I dream about the poutine from the Kroft.)

Date Night / Girl’s Night Out

A+O is a restaurant and bar in the Balboa Bay Resort. If you go, make sure to save room for their amazing desserts.

Tanner’s Restaurant is a must. They have great comfort food. (Am I the only one who could ALWAYS go for tomato soup and a grilled cheese?) And the bar is a great place to sit and catch up with friends you haven’t seen in forever.

The 626 Night Market has a few locations around Orange County and Los Angeles. The markets have iconic food and drinks. Make sure to bring containers to store all your extra food. Tickets are required for entry.

For a classic and elegant date night out, the Summit House and Orange Hill Restaurant offer a cozy atmosphere and spectacular views.

Drinks

Hive & Honey is a rooftop bar in Irvine. If you’re looking for great rooftop dining in Orange County or just a place to grab a cocktail after dinner, this is it.

The Bungalow in Huntington Beach has a beautiful patio. Plus, it’s catered by Bear Flag if you’re hungry.

Sky Loft and Mozambique are two rooftop bars with the same owners in Laguna Beach. They both have live music and beautiful views, and are among the standouts for rooftop dining in Orange County.

If you’re looking for welcoming places with great beer, check out Native Son Alehouse in Santa Ana, the Bruery in Placentia, or Modern Times in Anaheim.

The Fifth is a fun rooftop bar in Anaheim with a magical view of the Disneyland  fireworks show. And, the dessert is amazing!
