A Healthy Living Checklist

Healthy living can mean different things to different people.  But there are a few things that are universally true to help maintain a healthy lifestyle, especially when you’re also working hard to raise healthy children too.

The Essential Healthy Living Checklist For Moms:

7-9 Hours Of Sleep 

I know this can be virtually impossible some nights, and of course new mamas, the idea of two hours of continuous sleep sounds like heaven. But sleep is important!  

 

Drink Lots Of Water 

I think almost all of us have heard about how important water is and if you’re like me drinking enough water can be hard.  Water is essential and part of healthy living is drinking that water!

 

Physical Activity

You don’t have to train for a marathon to get physical activity.  You can go for a walk, rollerblade, dance, have sex, basically anything that getts your heart rate up for thirty minutes a day counts as physical activity.

 

Practice Mindfulness and Meditation

Practicing mindfulness and meditation may help you manage stress and high blood pressure, sleep better, feel more balanced and connected, and even lower your risk of heart disease.” – Source: Heart.org 

I like to do a thankful journal in the morning. (when I can!) I’ve found that it really does set the course of my thoughts in a good way!

 

Friends, Laughter, Adventure

Okay, so these three are definitely of my own thinking but I do believe they’re true! Friends are there to pick you up during the rough periods and also to celebrate during the good – and even the Mayo Clinic agrees!  Who doesn’t love to laugh? Laughing may just be the best medicine

And then there’s adventure.  I truly think that having something to look forward to – something I’ve never done before but always wanted to, or something that I’m excited to tackle gives balance to my life.
